8 fields for an OEM battery connector interface specification

Define eight connector-interface fields before accepting a pin-compatible replacement. Mechanical mating, electrical assignments and connection-state behavior are separate checks; a matching shell does not prove compatibility.

What to bring to the review

  • Exact battery, host and relevant charger revisions
  • Confirmed requirements, proposed targets and unresolved questions kept separate
  • A responsible owner and evidence location for each decision

8 fields for an OEM battery connector interface specification

Use a row with field number, requirement, responsible party, revision, evidence link and decision. Keep the original measurements or documents available to the authorized project team. Mark missing evidence as open; do not replace it with an estimated pass.

  • 1. Identification: record both mating part numbers and drawing revisions.
  • 2. Contact map: define assignments, polarity and the viewing direction used in the drawing.
  • 3. Electrical conditions: record continuous and transient requirements and the applicable component limits.
  • 4. Signal meaning: separate power, sensing, identification and communication contacts.
  • 5. Connection states: define permitted behavior when disconnected, partially connected or fully mated.
  • 6. Harness: identify wire, termination and strain-relief definitions with their responsible owner.
  • 7. Host response: specify enable, inhibit and fault behavior without assuming universal hot-plug support.
  • 8. Verification: link the exact mating pair to inspection records and agreed test results.

Use the record to make a scoped decision

Resolve disagreements between the pack and host contact maps before sample assembly. Compare component documentation with the proposed operating conditions and record unresolved items. After a connector or harness change, determine which electrical, mechanical and host checks need to be repeated.

Keep acceptance limits explicit

Do not connect a pack to discover unknown polarity. A shared connector shape or voltage label is insufficient evidence for compatibility.

Technical context and limits

This protector illustrates that protection functions, thresholds and delays are device-specific. Consult the documentation for the actual hardware. Citing this example does not identify a component used by Jinfan or establish system qualification.

Common questions

Does the checklist count specify a product rating?

No. The number counts the fields in this worksheet. It is not a measured result, a quality score, a certification, a minimum order quantity or a promise of delivery time.

What should be shared with engineering first?

Share a non-confidential requirements summary, the relevant revisions and unresolved decisions through Technical RFQ. Agree a suitable private exchange before sending sensitive drawings or customer records.
